Terroir

Our vineyards cover steep sections nearer the base of the mountains, rugged terrain in the foothills and gentle slopes towards the plains. This means there is a wide range of micro-landscapes in our area and a mosaic-like terroir. This variety helps to create wines with diverse and complex characteristics. The general aspect is northerly, although the ruggedness and hilliness of the landscape means we have slopes facing most directions. Soils and sub-soils are low in organic content and composed of limestone and reddish-brown clays with good drainage, structure and aeration. The soil surface is typified by limestone rocks, while the subsurface is made up of limestone, sand and clay deposits. This terroir creates the pre-conditions for making excellent wines.
